Deoxidizer is an additive which can absorb oxygen and slow down the oxidation of food. Deoxidizer can be used in baking food to prevent mildew. It is used to prevent myoglobin from being oxidized during the storage of fresh meat, so as to remove oxygen and keep fresh color. For the products of cooked meat, it's used to inhibit fat oxidation and prevent the growth of mold; For the tea packaging,it's used to prevent the tea leaves from fading, discoloration and vitamin oxidation. Due to different sources of water, iron deoxidizer can be divided into automatic reaction type and water type. Automatic reaction type deoxidizer, itself contains a certain amount of water, after contact with the oxygen in the package, can immediately absorb oxygen. The hydrophilic deoxidizer does not contain any water on its own. When iron powder reacts with oxygen, Fe(OH)3 or Fe2O3 is generated. The reaction formula is ：
4Fe + 3O2+ 6H2O = 4Fe(OH)3
4Fe + 3O2+2H2O = 2Fe2O3.H2O.
Here are some common deoxidizer formulas:
(1) mix 4g reducing iron powder +2g water +2g activated carbon +1g NaCl.
(2)400g reduced iron powder +30g NaCl+300g CaO+ water 3000mL.
(3)4000g reduced iron powder +30g NaCl+150g silica gel.
(4)15g reduced iron powder +3g NaCl+4g diatomite +2g activated carbon + water.
(5)30%MgCl2 aqueous solution impregnated activated white soil 3g+0.3g baking gypsum +3g reducing iron powder.
