Deoxidizer classification

According to its composition can be divided into two kinds:

(1) A deoxidizer mainly composed of an inorganic matrix, such as reduced iron powder. The principle is that iron powder is oxidized to iron hydroxide in the presence of oxygen and water vapor. Another example is a sulphite-based deoxidizer, which is a dithionite-based agent and uses Ca(OH)2 and activated carbon as auxiliary agents to react in a water-containing environment.

(2) is based on organic matrix, such as enzymes, ascorbic acid, oleic acid and so on. Ascorbic acid (AA) itself is a reducing agent. In the presence of oxygen, copper ion can be used as a catalyst to oxidize or dehydrogenate ascorbic acid (DHAA) to remove oxygen from the environment. This method is commonly used to remove oxygen from liquid foods. Ascorbic acid deoxidizer is one of the higher safety in the use of deoxidant. Enzyme deoxidizer is commonly used glucose oxidation alcohol, which uses oxygen to oxidize glucose to glucose acid to achieve deoxygenation.
