Molecular Sieve Desiccants Definition
Molecular sieves or synthetic zeolite is the most aggressive of the primary desiccants and offers a variety of adsorption selectivity based on molecular size, the distinctive feature of this non-hazardous synthetic product contains a uniform network of crystalline pores and empty adsorption cavities. We offer molecular sieves in different pore sizes (measured in Angstroms). Our offerings range from 3A, 4A, 5A, 10A and more.
This yields selective adsorption characteristics that can be very useful drying packages without removing other desirable molecules, such as volatile organics that might be present in the package. Molecular sieve can hold moisture to temperatures well past 450°F (230°C) and, because of its high affinity for moisture, can bring the relative humidity in packages down as low as 10%.
Common applications include the dehydration of compressed air, solvents, hydrocarbons, refrigerants, and inert gases. Molecular sieves are also used in a variety of air and gas separation processes, such as the selective adsorption of oxygen in nitrogen generators.
